About Us

Vandervells was established in 1962 and has operated mostly but not exclusively in the south and south west of the UK continuously throughout that period through all economic cycles including three recessions. We have vast experience of all sectors, including Care, Child Care, Catering, Hospitality, Licensed Trade, Retail, Post Offices, Franchises, Kennels and Catteries and SME.


We have evolved over the years and Vandervells LLP is now the 21st century version of the original company. It is a dynamic and expanding group of partners and Associate Partners with a core of senior members with a wealth of experience in the industry. We are committed to retaining our values of ethical personal service.

Partner John Joyce  operates from the Bristol Office and further afield as required. John was Regional Director of the Redwoods West Country office from the late 1990’s to 2005 when the highly successful 10 office group was purchased by the then Dipford Group who had thoroughly researched every multi-office group in their quest for a suitable acquisition. (Dipford subsequently closed all regional offices and Redwoods became a single office in Yorks with a more call centre ethos ) During that period John often worked together with the Vandervells Cornwall Office on a joint basis. He continued selling business as a partner in BTB and Businesses West Country until 2009, eventually formalising the link with Vandervells. John again has very broad experience – especially in Care (As a former Nursing Home Owner), SME’s, Catering, Kennels and Catteries, Retail and Post Offices.

Guy Hewson joined as Partner in 2013 having worked with John for some time prior to that. Guy brings a 25 year plus background in the City, specifically in insurance broking, insurance underwriting and property related transactions. Guy operates generically from the Taunton Office with a particular interest in the SME market.

Cornwall based Alistair Hill works from the Truro Office.  Alistair has over 25 years experience in the region and during that time has dealt with all manner of commercial transactions in all business sectors and his local knowledge is extensive.

Associate Partner Stephen Hogg opened up our new Midlands Office based around Bedford early in 2016, he has had a varied corporate background having worked for FTSE 100 companies and has built successful SME’s from nothing to multi-million pound turnover concerns, he has worked across a wide range of industries including publishing, construction and the music industry. Our Midlands office is now growing strongly covering Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire.
